چکیده
Shiga toxin producing Escherichia coli (STEC) is a newly emerged pathogen has gained immense attention across the globe. It causes large scale epidemics and thousands of sporadic cases of diarrheal illness every year. STEC infections have been reported across the world and causes mild illness to severe bloody diarrhoea and even lifethreatening complications such as HUS in humans. The serotype O157:H7 has recently become a public-health problem of serious concern as it targets infants and young children. The review here describes the epidemiology of STEC in Indian subcontinent.

Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) of the O157:H7 serotype is a worldwide zoonotic pathogen responsible for the majority of severe cases of human EHEC disease. The aim of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of E. coli O157: H7/NM in raw meat samples from two provinces of Iran. During a period from March 2010 to March 2011. Two hundred and ninety five raw meat samples were...
متن کاملPCR detection of Escherichia coli O157:H7 directed from slaughtered cattle in Shiraz, Iran
Escheric hia coli O157:H7 lives in the intestines of healthy cattle, and can contaminate meat during slaughtering pr actices . Detection of the low infectious dosage of bacterium requires a sensitive method. We developed polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays to detect the gene Stx2 irrespective of the bacterial serotype. In this study, the detection limit of the PCR protocol in detecting Stx...

Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) with serotype O157:H7 is a major foodborne pathogen. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of EHEC O157:H7 strain MC2 isolated from cattle in France. The assembly contains 5,400,376 bp that encoded 5,914 predicted genes (5,805 protein-encoding genes and 109 RNA genes).

Abstract Background and Objective: Escherichia coli O157:H7 is one of the most well-known pathogenic bacteria worldwide that can develop severe diseases such as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). This study aimed to assess the prevalence of virulence genes of E. coli O157:H7 in patients with suspected urinary tract infections (UTIs). Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was co...

The aim of this study was to identify virulent Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) strains isolated from faecal samples of 100 clinically healthy calves. In the present study, a total of 100 Escherichia coli (E. coli) isolates from clinically healthy calves belonging to 6 different farms located in Khorasan Razavi province, Iran, were examined for presence of virulence genes character...
